The Attorney General's Office has summoned former National Oil Corporation (NOC) Chairman Farhat Bengdara for questioning over a production-sharing agreement with Italian energy giant Eni.
The inquiry centres on amendments to a January 2023 contract covering Libya’s offshore Bahr Essalam field and the onshore El Wafa field.
Under the revised terms, Eni's production share reportedly increased from 30% to 39%, a change prosecutors suspect may have caused financial harm to the state.
The Attorney General's Office has instructed the current NOC leadership to formally notify Bengdara and ensure his appearance at a hearing.
Authorities say the investigation is part of a broader effort to scrutinize financial dealings within Libya’s oil sector.
