The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity (GNU) hailed Morocco for its continued support for peace and stability in Libya, and at the same time, it said it was surprised by Morocco's hosting of a dialogue session between a number of members of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State on last Wednesday, without prior coordination or following the usual diplomatic procedures.
The Ministry explained that the "Head of the Supreme Council of State, Mohammed Takala, and members of the Presidency Office confirmed that they had not received any official notification regarding holding this meeting, which raises questions about the coordination mechanisms for such dialogues."
The Ministry stressed the importance of prior coordination with its Moroccan counterpart regarding any meetings of the Libyan parties to ensure that parties do not engage in parallel tracks that could lead to disrupting the Libyan efforts aimed at achieving a sustainable solution to the crisis, in cooperation with the United Nations Support Mission in Libya.
