The Foreign Ministry of the Presidential Council addressed a note Wednesday to the British authorities regarding the protection of Libyan frozen funds in the United Kingdom.

"Libya has fulfilled all its obligations with respect to cooperation with the United Kingdom in the file of the Republican Army", the ministry stated, pointing out that the only place to bring up a case related to Libya is the Libyan judiciary.

The ministry stressed that the Libyan assets frozen in Britain are Libyan funds owned by the Libyan people and any exception to this is an infringement upon an inalienable right.

The ministry considered that the British endeavours to issue a law allowing the use of Libyan frozen funds compensate IRA victims goes against the Security Council resolutions relating to the freezing of funds, hoping that the British government would take action to limit the negative effects of this law.
