Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Consular Affairs, Murad Hemaima, met in Cairo with a group of Egyptian officials from the interior and foreign ministries, including the Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Salah Abdel Sadiq.

A statement by Libya's Foreign Ministry on Wednesday said the discussions focused on issues facing Libyan nationals traveling to Egypt, including obtaining and renewing residencies for all segments residing or regularly visiting the neighbouring country.

The Libyan side also addressed the financial penalties imposed on Libyans and the treatment of Libyan nationals, especially patients at the crossing border from the Egyptian side, besides the file of prisoners and detainees.

The ministry said it established a mechanism to communicate with its Egyptian counterpart to resolve the obstacles facing the Libyans in Egypt.
