The Presidential Council's Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the recent statement by the General Secretariat of the Union of Maghreb Countries on Algeria's proposal to hold a ministerial Maghreb meeting as soon as possible.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry confirmed its support for this ministerial meeting, clarifying that consultations with member states are currently underway to set the timing of the meeting.

The ministry also praised what it described as Algeria's keenness to activate the Maghreb Union institutions.

Libya has been heading the General Secretariat of the Union of Arab Maghreb States for years now.
