The National Crisis Management Centre has issued safety guidelines for residents in the Green Mountain areas to follow in the event of forest fires, pending the arrival of firefighting teams.
On Wednesday, the Centre advised citizens to quickly extinguish initial sparks using water, soil, or a heavy tree trunk.
Citizens were urged to remain in the area after extinguishing the fire to ensure it does not reignite, report fires immediately and evacuate if the fire advances. The Crisis Management Center also advised against fleeing uphill or downhill in the direction of the wind.
Meanwhile, the National Safety Authority in Derna announced on Wednesday that it had contained fires in a forest in Ras Al-Hilal, responding to urgent appeals from local residents. This is not the first time fires have broken out in the Green Mountain region.
The Centre stressed the importance of prompt action and vigilance to prevent the spread of fires and safeguard the well-being of residents.
