Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Electricity Company (GECOL), Mohamed Al-Mashai, has discussed with the Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Libya, Debbie Hirst, joint cooperation between GECOL and leading American companies in electrical power production.

The two sides also discussed ways to build bridges of communication and enhance cooperation with US companies conducive to the stability of the network and raise its production capacity, according to GECOL.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the two sides also discussed the prospect of return of American companies in the field of energy to Libya, and to tap into the experiences of American companies in the field of alternative energy.

They also reviewed the prospect of engaging US companies with their capabilities and resources to improve the national grid in Libya with plans geared to achieve short-term results.

For her part, Hirst emphasized to urge the specialized American companies to exert maximum efforts in providing the necessary support to serve the stability of the Libyan national grid and raise its production capacity.
