The President of the General National Congress, Nuri Abu Sahmain, and his counterpart of the House of the Representatives Aqilah Saleh, met in the Maltese Capital Valetta late on Tuesday in an attempt to bring the Libyan political crisis to an end.

In a follow-up press conference, the GNC President, Abu Sahmain, reiterated the need for a concord government, pointing out that this meeting with the HoR President, Aqilah Saleh stemmed out from the national necessities, as there should be no disagreement on the need to fight terrorism and extremism in Libya. He also stressed his disappointment by the misconduct of the ex-head of the UNSMIL, Bernardino Leon in the process of the dialogue.

"We have discussed the mechanisms of forming joint committees to study the disagreement points and we hope that these committees will start in the next couple days" Added Abu Sahmain.

On the other hand, the HoR President, Aqilah Saleh, stressed that there would be no official delegate from the HoR and GNC to sign the UNSMIL's concord draft in Skhirat, Morocco, on Wednesday, urging the UNSMIL to postpone the signing process until the HoR and the GNC set the norms for the Libyan concord government.
