The General National Congress called on Thursday for resuming the UN-brokered dialogue to reach consensus over contentious issues, as an uneasy calm prevails in the capital following the sea entry of UN-imposed government.

"The GNC still backs the UN-led dialogue and calls again for reopening the dialogue to broaden consensus over contentious issues especially those raised by the Mufti," a GNC statement explained.

The GNC confirmed that the Presidential Council has not received the final approval, urging it to follow the legal and constitutional procedures to get its legitimacy.

"If this council claimed power or assaulted state institutions, it would be considered a coup against the constitutional legitimacy and declaration." The statement warned.

The GNC called for self-restraint to avoid bloodshed in Tripoli, condemning the attack on Al-Nabaa TV and the assault on Foreign Minister of Salvation Government Al- Abu Zakouk, both believed to be carried out by pro Sirraj government gunmen.
