The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Naji Issa, has discussed with Head of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdul Hamid Dbeibah enhancing coordination between the Central Bank and the Government of National Unity with the aim of serving the citizen and supporting the national economy.
During the meeting, Dbeibah stressed the need to unify efforts with the aim of diversifying and strengthening the national economy, and creating joint programs to support the private sector, according to basic foundations and constants.
Dbeibah also stressed raising the level of coordination between the Central Bank and the Ministry of Economy and Trade regarding the import budget, and controlling it according to the needs of the local market, in addition to continuing coordination with the Ministry of Finance to control and organize government spending in all its aspects.
According to a publication by GNU media office, the two sides agreed on the importance of continuing transparency and disclosure, and implementing all government procedures with high standards of transparency.
The meeting touched on preparations for the month of Ramadan, by providing basic commodities at appropriate prices and quantities, disbursing the necessary salaries and grants to support citizens, and working together to provide cash liquidity to solve the problems that citizens have suffered for many years.
The governor reviewed a number of projects planned to be implemented in 2025, which contribute to facilitating banking services for citizens and the Libyan private sector, stressing the need to coordinate with the government in some of these projects.
The need for regular disbursement of monthly salaries and grants on their specified dates was also emphasized, as the governor confirmed the disbursement of October salaries before next Thursday.
