The Government of National Unity (GNU)has announced the implementation of a new system to accurately monitor diesel consumption, in order to prevent smuggling by monitoring its distribution from the ports up to its delivery to the public.
This came during a meeting of the committee formed by head of GNU to discuss the system for regulating fuel and preventing smuggling presented by Al-Namaa Oil Investments Company.
Government spokesman, Mohamed Hamouda confirmed that there is a proposal to expand this system to include gasoline as well. The company's plan included providing all gas stations with the necessary technical equipment.
The Audit Bureau made a presentation clarifying the observations regarding the fuel file for the year 2023, and the necessity of installing the system at all distribution stations.
It has been agreed during the meeting to implement the first phase of the project regarding following up on distribution of diesel to major consumers, as it represents 60% of the total fuel supplied, to ensure its distribution is regulated and shortcomings are eliminated through all stages of distribution.
