The Government of National Unity (GNU) has expressed its deep condolences to the family of a 14-year-old boy identified to be Abdul Muhaimin Aqil who died of a landmine explosion in the Ain-Zara neighbourhood south of Tripoli last Thursday.

The blast killed Abdul Muhaimin and injured two others, according to the Ambulance and Emergency Service.

In a statement, the Chairman of the Presidential Council, Mohammad Menfi, called on Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah and the competent authorities to follow up on this incident, take care of the injured, and provide all assistance to their families.

For his part, Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah said he is following up directly on the situation of those injured, pledging to take all measures to ensure that their needs and those of their families are met.

"I instructed the Interior Minister to follow up on the case and reassess the extent of other mines in the area," the Prime Minister tweeted out on his account.
