The National Emergency Committee of the Ministry of Local Government in the Government of National Unity (GNU) discussed the necessary plans to confront any emergency in the valleys located within the scope of Zliten Municipality.

The meeting was chaired by the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Local Administration and Chairman of the Committee, Nasr Al-Mahtout, in the presence of the members, on the sidelines of their visit to Zliten on Sunday to inspect the conditions of the dams and valleys there.

The meeting specifically addressed the situation of Wadi Majer, the largest valley in the region, which poses a danger to citizens, especially in areas affected by the phenomenon of rising groundwater levels in Zliten. They also discussed precautionary measures to preserve citizens' property and monitor low-lying areas adjacent to the valleys.

The meeting witnessed a visual presentation of maps showing the paths of the valleys and the areas most vulnerable to flooding, and discussed the problems facing the municipality in dealing with this crisis, including the lack of capabilities and low awareness among citizens.

Al-Mahtout stressed the need for cooperation between all concerned parties to confront all challenges that may result from fluctuations in weather conditions, calling on citizens to exercise caution and stay away from valley paths and low-lying areas when it rains. He also stressed the importance of providing the necessary support to the Zliten Municipality to implement the plans in place.
