The Government of National Unity (GNU) Spokesman Muhammad Hammouda reiterated Saturday that the GNU is continuing work normally, denying rumors that some ministers have resigned.

Hammouda wrote on his Facebook account, "the GNU with all its ministers continues to perform its work as usual, and all ministers are present in their headquarters."

He said the government is facing a broad campaign of fake and misleading news, including some forged documents claiming the resignation of some ministers.

The east-based House of Representatives (HoR) appointed Thursday former interior minister Fathi Bashagha to replace Abdul Hamid Dbeibah as head of a new interim government.

Dbeibah compared the parliament decision to what happened in 2019 when Khalifa Haftar -who is favoured by Parliament Speaker Aqila Saleh- launched an aggression on the capital in a bid to take over the country.

On Friday, Hundreds of protesters took to the streets in Tripoli and other major cities, including Misrata, to oppose the Parliament's decision to assign a new unelected government.

They called for the two bodies, including the HoR and the High Council of State(HCS) in Tripoli, to be dissolved.
