Libya's top religious cleric has urged the revolutionary fighters to continue their battle in Sirte until they get rid of ISIS militants.

Speaking to Tanasuh TV on Sunday, Grand Mufti Sheikh Sadiq Al-Gharyani said fighting ISIS is a religious duty and must not stop until the liberation of entire city as in Derna and Sabratha.

"The ISIS militants are criminal and corrupt people, and their actions have nothing to do with Islam," he said.

"The fighting in Sirte is legitimate, those fighting ISIS in Sirte are revolutionary fighters, there is no army as claimed by some governments," he added.

He also advised the revolutionary fighters to head to Benghazi after they liberate Sirte to fight Haftar's forces.

"They should join Benghazi front lines because the real battle that would decide Libya's fate is against Haftar's forces, if they win it, Libya will witness peace and stability, if they don't do that, Haftar would move the war to them in their regions," He explained.
