An armed group, believed to be linked to ISIS, attacked Fuqaha town in Al-Jufra on Tuesday dawn, killing at least two people and kidnapping a third then leaving after burning several houses.

Sources reported that a number of vehicles entered the town and then the gunmen cut power and telecommunications, and then they carried out their attack.

"One of the killed persons was a local official who was executed by gunshots while asleep then they set his house on fire. The second killed person was the head of the municipal guard. A third person was abducted." The sources added.

In October 2018, Fuqaha town saw a similar attack by ISIS militants, who killed four and kidnapped eight others. Some of the kidnapped were later freed.

Al-Jufra, where Fuqaha is located, is a very vital city for Khalifa Haftar's forces in central Libya from which convoys attacking Tripoli are coming.
