Haftar confirms being supported by foreign experts, says UNSMIL entangled Libya’s crisis
The renegade General Khalifa Haftar has confirmed that he is using the help of the foreign experts who are providing assistance in data analysis and military training in order to be able to carry out operations of a “special kind”.
Speaking with the Russian news agency Sputnik, Haftar said, “Putting Egypt and Chad aside, the rest of the neighboring countries have cold feet regarding taking a vividly clear stance toward me.” Adding that Egypt and Chad understand, better than the rest, the Libyan scene and are providing very crucial assistance to him.
“UNSMIL has moved no steps ahead in its mission to resolve the ongoing political conflict despite the passing of three years since it has started.” Haftar told Sputnik, indicating that the UNSMIL bears a great portion of what has become of Libya on the political level because its policies badly affected the security situation in many cities, especially Tripoli, which he said is “ruled by illegitimate militias.”
“UNSMIL helped those militias to be more powerful by appointing them for tasks that are supposed to be the specialization of the army, police and security apparatuses.” He concluded.
