The latest date set by renegade General Khalifa Haftar to announce the liberation of Benghazi has elapsed without significant results on the ground except the peaceful takeover of Laithi district after the retreat of the anti-fighters there.

Last week, CIA-linked Haftar launched a massive operation under the name "Martyr’s Blood" to control the city and set February 29 as a date for what he called the liberation of Benghazi.

He is used to set dates for the control of the city to reassure his supporters and absorb their anger over his war failure. He also uses a strong media campaign to announce fake victories over his opponents.

Meanwhile, sources from the Shura Council said clashes are still ongoing as usual in many areas of the city including Al-Hawari, Qaryounis, Al-Sabri and Souq Al-Hout. In the western front line, a counter attack by the Shura Council fighters has forced Haftar's militants to retreat, leaving their ammunition and vehicles behind.

The Shura Council also posted pictures of some of its fighters inside Benghazi's main port to refute Dignity Operation claims that it had taken it.
