The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has expressed concern over recent military activities across the country, particularly in the southern and western regions.
In a statement Friday, UNSMIL called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and avoid provocative actions that could destabilize the fragile peace in Libya and endanger civilians.
The mission also highlighted the importance of maintaining open communication and coordination between the forces of Khalifa Haftar and the Government of National Unity (GNU).
"The Mission regrets that these developments coincide with the 84th anniversary of the foundation of Libya's army and recall the current division of this vital institution," UNSMIL added.
The Government of National Unity's military forces have raised their alert levels in response to movements by Haftar's forces in the southwest.
Haftar's forces have stated that these operations are intended to secure Libya's southern borders and enhance national security, insisting they are not targeting any specific group.
