Libya is ready to sell crude oil to Egypt in Egyptian pound to raise its rate against foreign currencies, the legal adviser of rogue General Khalifa Haftar has declared.

Speaking to Egypt’s Extra TV on Friday, Salah Abdul-Kareem said selling oil to Egypt in pound has been presented to the House of Representatives, Al-Thanni government, parallel National Oil Corporation and parallel Central Bank of Libya.

“Egypt must benefit from the Libyan oil by buying it in pound and not in dollar,” he suggested.

Abdul-Kareem also reiterated the threat of Dignity Operation spokesperson Ahmed Al-Mismari to invade Tripoli, saying the invasion is imminent.

“A military operation is about to happen in Tripoli, Sabha in the south and other western cities,” he threatened.

On Friday, several armed brigades paraded in Tripoli after rumours went viral on social media claiming that Dignity Operation militias, mainly from Zintan and Wirshiffana, were preparing an attack on the capital.

Last week, Dignity Operation militias, backed by rebel groups from Sudan and Chad, seized Libya’s major oil terminals in the oil crescent region.
