The head of the High Council of State (HCS), Khaled Al-Mishri, renewed his call for the swift implementation of voting laws during a meeting with a relevant HCS committee on Saturday.

Al-Mashri was briefed on the work strategy of the 6 + 6 committee -formed by the HCS and the Parliament (HoR) to prepare the referendum and elections draft laws- besides its mechanism of work and the problems hindering its progress.

A statement by the HCS said Al-Mishri emphasized the importance of expediting the completion of the required legislation in the shortest possible time and resolving all outstanding issues in this regard.

He also stressed the need to call in the experts and specialists to ask for their advice on many issues related to these legislations.

It may be worth noting that the HoR and the HCS have formed a joint committee with six members from each side to agree on electoral laws as stipulated in the 13th constitutional amendment. The committee held its first meeting two weeks ago.
