Amna Amtair, a member of the committee tasked with amending the political agreement in the High Council of the State (HCS), has slammed the UN envoy to Libya, Martin Kobler, accusing him of obstructing long awaited meetings between the delegations of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State.

Both parties are supposed to have met and discussed the amendment of the Libyan political agreement (LPA) signed in Skhirat, but Martin Kobler is trying to include other parties, according to Amtair.

She told Italian news agency AKI on Thursday saying, "The High Council of State has agreed to amend the political agreement in accordance with article 12 which states that parties deriving their legitimacy from the agreement are to only amend, without involving other parties."

Amtair also stated that "The committee to amend the agreement consisting both the House of Representatives and the High Council of State has not yet set a date for a direct meeting to start discussing the amendment of the political agreement", adding that the chairman of the committee to amend the agreement in the High Council is in continuous contact with his counterpart in the House of Representatives.

Amtair clarified her statements by saying "The committee to amend the political agreement in the High Council of State began its work on May 12, and its task is to discuss the possibility of amending the agreement, as for the adoption of these amendments and the cancellation of articles to add others in the agreement, well these would be issues for elected members of the High Council of State and not the committee."
