The President of the High Council of State (HCS), Abdulrahman Suweihli, held discussions with the head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Ghassan Salame, on Wednesday.

The two officials discussed developments regarding the political situation and the United Nations’ action plan on Libya, as well as proposals to amend the political agreement by bringing the HCS and House of Representatives back to the table of discussions.

Those present at the meeting, which was held at the HCS headquarters in Tripoli, also discussed the security situation in the country, especially in Tripoli and the south.

Suweihli called for the implementation of security arrangements that are contained in the political agreement and to consider this a top priority to establish security and stability and provide the necessary conditions for state institutions to work without pressure and carry out their duties towards the citizens of Libya to the fullest.

Suweihli appreciated efforts of UNSMIL to help alleviate the suffering of Tawergha IDPs in Qararat Qatif and their efforts to rebuild trust between Misrata and Tawergha to accelerate the implementation of the reconciliation agreement between the two cities.
