The Media and Government Communication Department of the Government of National Unity (GNU) has denied the circulating news about the downing of a helicopter carrying some of its ministers after holding their cabinet meeting in Jadu city.

The spokesman for the GNU Mohammed Hammouda, told reporters that a technical fault caused a helicopter carrying cabinet ministers to land without causing any casualties.

Reports said that the helicopter had crashed as it took off from Jadu Airport.

The GNU held a meeting in Jadu to discuss the latest developments on political, economic and service levels as Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah reaffirmed the need for elections to be held as soon as possible, and for security and stability to be maintained.

GNU’s media statements said Dbeibah headed to Tajoura district to meet with protesters who had blocked the western entrance to the district in protest against the release of an armed group’s leader who was detained by Special Deterrence Force for murder.
