The High National Elections Commission (HNEC) issued Decision No. (132) of 2024, regarding the approval of the preliminary results of the municipal councils' elections (first group 2024).
The HNEC also issued Decision No. (131) of 2024, regarding the (partial) cancellation of the voting results for the election of the Al-Shuwairf municipality.
It also announced on Sunday, in a press conference, the preliminary results of the winners of the municipal councils' elections. The Chairman of HNEC Emad Al-Sayeh confirmed during the press conference that the voting rate reached 77.2%, which is a surprising and high percentage compared to previous electoral operations, making it the highest recorded by the HNEC so far.
Al-Sayeh explained that the voting process in Al-Shweirif Municipal Council was cancelled due to a violation related to the encroachment on votes in Station No. 2. He stressed that the HNEC does not adopt any interest in the victory of one party over another or one list over another, while emphasizing the pursuit of achieving the highest internationally recognized standards and principles in implementing the electoral process.
Al-Sayeh stressed that the principle of neutrality is the basis for the HNEC's communication with political parties, whether in power or not, noting that the HNEC always works to maintain its readiness for any political process, despite the large resources and preparations it requires.
