The High National Elections Commission (HNEC), headed by Emad Al-Sayeh, discussed on Wednesday with the Director of Democracy International (DI) in Libya the strategies and rules of work related to supporting the electoral process in Libya.
The HNEC's media office has said that this meeting is the first between the two sides and aims to discuss possible areas of cooperation to support the democratic process in the country. It has explained that DI works to support democratic processes and build institutional capacities around the world by implementing projects that focus on strengthening governance and community participation in Libya, and is implementing the "Communication with Voters for Fair Representation" project, with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to enhance the electoral process.
It is noteworthy that this project aims to provide technical assistance and develop institutional competencies within the HNEC to ensure the organization of transparent and comprehensive elections that reflect the aspirations of all Libyan citizens.
