The Canadian Ambassador, Isabelle Savard, visited the High National Elections Commission (HNEC) HQ on Tuesday to find out about the preparations for the upcoming elections.
A statement by the HNEC said that its head, Emad Al-Sayel briefed the Canadian diplomat on their working mechanism and the technical preparations that are "subject to international standards and principles recognized in this regard."
"This visit comes within the framework of examining the readiness of the commission to implement the elections planned for this year," the HNEC stated.
According to the statement, Ambassador Savard congratulated the HNEC Council for holding the regional conference to enhance women's electoral participation, which the ambassador attended.
She lauded the efforts that made the event "a success," reiterating the international community's support for all efforts aimed at promoting the level of participation in future elections.
