The High National Elections Commission (HNEC) announced on Sunday the start of implementing the municipal council elections (second group), in 63 municipal councils.
The HNEC explained in a statement that this process will begin with the implementation of the candidate registration phase, which will last for a period of 21 days starting from Sunday, followed by the voter registration phase, which will be announced at a later time.
The HNEC called on everyone who wishes to compete for seats and membership in their municipal councils to adhere to the regulations and procedures governing the candidacy process, and to verify the validity of the documents submitted by them to the candidacy application acceptance committees.
It explained that it would cooperate with various state institutions regarding the availability of some conditions in applicants for candidacy applications, noting its willingness to communicate with the Public Prosecution and the Criminal Investigation Department regarding this matter.
The HNEC called on residents of the municipalities targeted by the electoral process who meet the candidacy conditions, and who see in themselves the competence and ability to bear responsibility and honesty to exercise their right to run, calling on all state institutions to cooperate with it in order for these elections to succeed and provide the necessary support in their various stages.
