The High National Elections Commission (HNEC) launched the second version of the training program for the 760 Network for female candidates, to introduce the municipal council elections and the candidacy mechanism.

The HNEC said through its media office that the training program targeted 38 women from the network members as a second group, via Zoom.

HNEC member Rabab Halab confirmed that this network comes within the framework of the Women Support Unit's efforts to develop its awareness strategy and enhance women's participation in running for elections.

It also aims to provide programs to support women as leaders through mechanisms for communicating with the public, how to design electoral campaign, and how to protect women from electoral violence.

The training program activities included several training sessions, presented by Samira Abu Sitta from the Candidates Department, Anan Souri, an expert at the United Nations Support Mission, and Salina Joshi, Women's Advisor at the United Nations Support Mission.

The topics included defining the Candidate Registration Department and its tasks, the legal framework for municipal elections, the candidacy mechanism - candidacy conditions and general controls for the process, how to receive a voter card, and the session witnessed discussions and questions about the candidacy stage as well as the mechanism for distributing seats for women in the municipal council elections.

It is worth noting that the 760 Network Project is a network established by the Women's Support Unit in 2024, and it brought together under its umbrella women who applied to run in previous elections or those wishing to run in the future.

This training is the second, as the Women's Support Unit presented the first version of the training on July 30, which targeted 35 women from the network.
