The Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC) Emad Al-Sayeh held a meeting at the HNEC's headquarters in Tripoli with the directors of departments, heads of technical departments and the international support team to review and evaluate the current stage (accepting candidacy applications) and discuss preparations for the next stages of the municipal councils elections (Group 2 - 2025).
Al-Sayeh presented a comprehensive assessment of the current stage, which included the process of registering candidates, highlighting the most important observations and challenges faced by the HNEC during this stage. The attendees discussed how to overcome these challenges and enhance performance to ensure the effective conduct of the electoral process.
The meeting also touched on the preparations of the technical departments for the next stages, which include opening the voter registry and distributing the voter card.
The departments reviewed their readiness in terms of human and technical resources to implement these sensitive tasks, stressing the importance of joint coordination between departments to ensure the smoothness and transparency of the electoral process. This meeting comes within the preparations for the completion of the municipal councils elections (Group 2 - 2025), which began on January 19.
