The Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Aqila Saleh, welcomed the Security Council's statement, stressing his call on various Libyan parties to exercise calm and stop taking measures, issuing decisions, or engaging in actions that would destabilize, deepen institutional division, and undermine confidence among Libyans.

Saleh called for the necessity of adhering to the provisions of the Constitutional Declaration and the Libyan Political Agreement, which stipulate the powers and competencies of the House of Representatives in assigning sovereign positions in consultation with the High Council of State.

Saleh considered the decision issued to assign a governor and a board of directors for the Central Bank of Libya as null and void because it was issued by a non-specialist and unauthorized party, lacked reasons, and violated the Constitutional Declaration and the Libyan Political Agreement.

He stressed the HoR's commitment to the outcomes of the (6+6) Committee and the laws related to the election of the President of the State and the National Assembly, calling for immediate action to organize elections under the auspices of a new unified government to ensure integrity and transparency, in consultation with the High Council of State.

Saleh also renewed the HoR's support for the UN mission and its efforts to get the country out of the crisis, calling on the High Council of State to consult with the aim of implementing the outcomes of the (6+6) Committee as soon as possible and moving forward on the political track to ensure and protect the country's unity and stability.

The UN Security Council issued a statement last Wednesday expressing its concern over the recent developments in Libya, calling for refraining from taking any unilateral measures and reaching a consensual solution to the current crisis related to the Central Bank of Libya.
