The spokesperson of the dissolved parliament, Faraj Abu Hashim, disclosed that the obstinacy of the HoR prevented the handover of power from the General National Congress.

Abu Hashim told Libya Awalan TV that the GNC made its best to make the handover procedures with the parliament possible; however, it failed because of the HoR’s rejection that was particularly given by Abu Bakir Baira, being the oldest member in age.

“After the HoR abstained from coming to Tripoli to take in power, the GNC asked for a two-hour delay of the first session of the parliament to enable members from the GNC to travel to Tobruk for the handover ceremony, which was totally refused by the HoR.” He added.

Abu Hashim concluded by saying that members from Al-Zawiya city launched an initiative to transfer the handover ceremony to their city, pointing out that all those efforts were rejected altogether by the HoR and that Abu Bakir Baira is the reason behind the deterioration of the Libyan situation and division, as he called it.
