The Acting Interior Minister Emad Trabelsi met with the UN Envoy Abdoulaye Bathily on Saturday to discuss the ministry's readiness to safeguard any planned elections at the regional and national levels.

A statement by the Interior Ministry said the two sides reviewed other issues, including the ministry's role in the work of the (5 + 5) Joint Military Committee, illegal immigration, border protection, and combating transnational organized crime.

Trabelsi briefed Bathily on the ministry's plan to support the security directorates, police stations, and the educational facilities guard apparatus.

The minister disclosed that the second phase of their security plan for Greater Tripoli would go into effect in the next few days.

Meanwhile, the UN envoy praised the ministry's efforts and the "positive impact on the security situation," according to the Interior Ministry, which reiterated its effective partnership with the UN mission and its affiliated organization.
