The western countries have condemned Dignity Operation attack on the eastern oil ports and called fighting groups for an immediate ceasefire and to refrain from any further hostilities.

The governments of the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, and France urged Monday Dignity Operation militias to avoid any action that could damage Libya's energy infrastructure or further disrupt its exports.

They confirmed in a joint statement that oil infrastructure, production, and export must remain under the exclusive control of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) acting under the UN-proposed government.

"We call for all military forces that have moved into the oil crescent to withdraw immediately, without preconditions." The statement reads.

"We reiterate our intent to enforce UNSCR 2259, including measures concerning illicit oil exports, activities which could damage the integrity and unity of Libyan State financial institutions and the NOC, and individuals and entities engaging in or providing support for acts that threaten the unity, peace, stability or security of Libya." The statement warned.

On Sunday, militia groups loyal to rogue General Khalifa Haftar launched a surprise attack on Ibrahim Jodran's so-called Petroleum Facilities Guard and seized Zueitina, Ras Lanuf, Es Sider, and Brega oil terminals.

The spokesperson of the European Union said the attacks on oil terminals endanger Libya's energy infrastructure. Maja Kocijancic urged militias and armed groups in the oil crescent region to respect the authority of the GNA and to immediately cease hostilities.
