The Secretary-General of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) Anthony Bellanger called in a statement Friday on the Presidential Council (PC) and all authorities in Libya to take full responsibility for the protection of journalists working in areas under their control.

The statement expressed the support of the IFJ to all Libyan journalists who suffered from abuse and intimidation.

It also called on the PC to investigate all attacks, adding that it would not accept the continuation of such acts, and that perpetrators of violations must be held accountable.

More than 140 journalists from 20 different media organizations signed a letter to the PC demanding measures to stop violations on media and freedom of expression and to ensure a safe working environment for journalists in Libya.
