Buccino

Italian Ambassador, Giuseppe Buccino has paid a visit to Benghazi, during which he discussed coordination with his country for the reconstruction and stabilization programme in the city. 

Consul General of the State of Italy, Francesco De Luigi, accompanied the ambassador in this visit, during which they met Head of the Executive Council of the Municipality of Benghazi, Al-Saqr Bojwari.

The meeting discussed implications of the current political situation on the work of the municipality and its ability to provide service to the public, projects implemented by the United Nations Development Program in Benghazi, and the importance of joint coordination with regard to the reconstruction and stability programme in the city.

The municipality stated in a statement that Buccino's visit to Benghazi comes close to the end of his tenure as Italian ambassador to Libya.

The ambassador praised the municipality's continuous cooperation and response with the Italian consulate for the benefit of the public interest of both parties, it added.

For his part, Bojwari praised the cooperation of the European Union in general and Italy in particular "with regard to supporting and developing the municipality's human capacities in several fields."
