‎The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee of the House of Representatives, Youssef Al-Agouri, accompanied by the Rapporteur of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Mohammed Tamer, met with the Italian Consul General in Benghazi, Francesco De Luigi, at the headquarters of the House of Representatives to exchange views on issues of joint interest.

‎Al-Agouri said during the meeting, according to what was stated by the official spokesman of the House of Representatives, Abdullah Blehiq, the importance of cooperation in the immigration file and benefiting from Italian support programs in a number of fields, including the coastal road construction project, and cooperation in fishing activities.

‎He also stressed he was following up on the issue of Libyan youth imprisoned in Italy, pointing out the importance of this issue, and reiterating the keenness of the House of Representatives to enhance coordination with the Italian side on this issue. 

The Rapporteur of the Foreign Affairs Committee stressed the importance of expanding Italian cooperation programs in the south, especially in the field of agriculture, and the necessity of opening consular affairs services in the city of Sabha to facilitate travel procedures, extending an invitation to the Italian Consul to visit the south.

The Italian Consul explained his country's efforts to alleviate the immigration crisis through the Mattei Plan, expressing his desire to visit the south and cooperate to open a consulate in the city of Sabha, and stressing the importance of continuous coordination between the two countries in all fields.
