Italy fears new wave of migration flow if Libyan elections fail
Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio has warned of the grave consequences that may arise if the elections in Libya fail.
Italy's top diplomat raised the issue during a meeting with his American counterpart, Anthony Blinken, at a security meeting in Bordeaux, France.
The two officials exchanged notes on several regional files, including developments in Libya.
Di Maio expressed fears of a new round of violence in Libya that might generate a fresh wave of uncontrolled migration flows, which "Italy can not bear."
For his part, Blinken praised Italy's efforts in supporting stability in the region, including Libya and Ethiopia.
