Japan has donated US$ 750,000 to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Libya to support 22,000 vulnerable children in need of education and protection in the country, especially those affected by Covid-19, conflict, internal displacement and migration.
"The contribution will focus on achieving results in protecting children and improving their living conditions in Libya through increasing access to quality education and child protection services," said Masaki Amadera, Charge d'Affaires, Embassy of Japan in Libya.
The one-year program aims to bolster UNICEF Libya’s work to improve the living conditions of vulnerable children and young people who were deprived of many services after the coronavirus outbreak, within an emergency assistance program, according to UNICEF.
The UN organization anticipated that around 440 girls and 360 boys will participate in community-based psychosocial support programs, which will be implemented in partnership with government counterparts and local partners.
