The Public Prosecution released the owner of Sada newspaper website and the presenter of the “Flosna” (Our Money) program on Al-Wasat Channel, journalist Ahmed Al-Sanussi, on Sunday evening, three days after his arrest and detention by the Internal Security Agency, without announcing an official reason for his arrest.
Al-Sanussi's release from the Public Prosecution came after he was referred to it by the Internal Security Agency in Tripoli, earlier on Sunday.
Friends of journalist Ahmed Al-Sanussi and activists circulated on social media a photo of him with a number of his friends after he left the Public Prosecution building in Tripoli.
The Internal Security Agency detained the journalist last Thursday for publishing documents related to corruption cases in the Ministry of Economy and Trade of the Government of National Unity.
The detention of the journalist was widely condemned in Libya by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, the US Embassy, the European Union Mission to Libya, and a number of political figures, activists, and civil society organizations, all of which called for his immediate release.
