The member of the Presidential Council of the UN-proposed government, Abdelsalam Kajman, urged for putting an end to the ongoing fight in the eastern region, denouncing the continuous killing of civilians due to airstrikes.

On his Facebook page, Kajman said any military action that does not go under the legitimacy of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord must be stopped, warning of going back to the drawing board, which is the aim of such airstrikes, in an indication of the rogue General Khalifa Haftar’s forces.

“Killing civilians by Haftar’s bombing recently is considered no less than crimes against humanity and such acts must stop in no time.” Kajman remarked, adding that there is no difference between those acts and the terrorist acts done by IS militants before they were kicked out of Derna, pointing out that both are condemned on all levels as they are considered a violation of the political agreement, which stated that all armed conflicts must stop.

Likewise, the Deputy Head of the Presidential Council, Ahmed Mitig said the recurrent airstrikes on Derna may impede or even destroy the national accord, which “must prevail in the country,” he added.

Commenting on the airstrikes that recently hit residential areas in Derna, Ahmed Mitig posted on Facebook, “It has become an unavoidable issue; an issue that can never be looked away from or remain silent about because there is no justification whatsoever for raining down bombs on civilians this way only if the aim is to leave people on the threshold of pain.”
