Lebreg airport in ِAl-Baida city received Monday Emirati and Saudi planes stuffed with cargos of flour as an aid to help decrease the lack of this granular material, disclosed the Head of the Crisis Committee in the east, Ali Al-Traiki.

Al-Traiki said that the Crisis Committee, which includes some of the eastern cities’ mayors, asked renegade General Khalifa Hafter, the leader of the so-called Dignity Operation to interfere and find a solution to the flour crisis that plunged the eastern region into sheer anguish.

He explained that the Crisis Committee went to Hafter as Al-Thanni government and its parallel Central Bank of Libya were unfit to solve the crisis, and urged him to solve it. After that, Hafter called his allies in the UAE and Saudi Arabia and requested their assistance by providing the Libyans, in the east, with flour and they agreed to open an air bridge to send large amounts of flour to the east.

The eastern municipalities are going through a sharp lack of flour, which caused a lot of bakeries to shut down and made the bread prices skyrocket.
