The UN envoy to Libya, Jan Kubis, and Deputy Minister of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Mikhail Bogdanov, has expressed their support for the 5 + 5 Joint Military Commission efforts aimed at unifying the Libyan armed forces, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Monday.

According to the statement, Kubis and Bogdanov agreed, during a phone call, to continue close coordination with the UN leading role to help establish a comprehensive and constructive dialogue in Libya, with the participation of all influential political forces without exception.

The two sides discussed a package of issues related to the advancement of the Libyan settlement process in accordance with the Berlin Conference outcomes and the UN Security Council resolutions 2510 and 2570.

The Russian Foreign Ministry indicated that the two sides devoted particular attention to the problems hindering preparations for holding the general elections by the end of this year, including developing the necessary legislative framework.
