The head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Jan Kubis has called on Libyans not to miss the opportunity to achieve the goals of their revolution.

"Ten years after the revolution, the Libyan people have a genuine opportunity to finally achieve the revolution’s goals of building a united and truly sovereign state," Kubis said in a statement on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the revolution.

The UN envoy congratulated the Libyan people and reaffirmed the UN's commitment to supporting the Libyan people as they make their way towards stability, security, and prosperity as well as for restoring the democratic legitimacy and unity of their institutions and reclaiming the sovereignty of their country.

He also called for a state free of foreign interference and weapons outside the control of legitimate authorities and based on democracy, justice, rule of law, the respect of human rights, and equal rights and opportunity for all its people and components, of all women and men.
