Libya has secured a new large shipment of the Chinese-developed Sinopharm, COVID-19 vaccine, of which 1,260,000 arrived at Mitiga Airport on Monday.

Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah was keen to receive the shipment in person and conducted a press conference at the airport on this occasion.

He indicated that another 800 thousand doses of the same vaccine would arrive tomorrow, while another half a million will arrive successively soon.

Dbeibah urged citizens to go out and get vaccinated "as it is the only way to protect oneself against the virus."

Meanwhile, Minister of Health Ali Al-Zanati says that Covid-19 infections have decreased 44% due to the government's measures in this regard. The government imposed a partial curfew for two weeks and launched exceptional vaccination campaigns in several cities.
