The Libyan Center for Freedom of Press has denounced the assassination of the Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh by the Israeli forces.
The 51-years-old was shot to death by the Israeli army while covering the raid on the West Bank's Jenin refugee camp early Wednesday.
In a statement, Libya's freedom press centre described the killing of Abu Akleh as a "heinous and cowardly crime", saying it was among the methodology followed by the Zionist occupation to target journalists in Palestine.
"The assassination of the Palestinian journalist is part of the full-fledged war crimes committed by the Zionist occupation forces against the Palestinian people, journalists, and the media."
It said the murder of Abu Akleh is a result of the international community's silence on the successive "Zionist crimes and the prevalence of the phenomenon of impunity for the oldest occupation in human history."
Abu Akleh, a Palestinian-American journalist who worked for Al Jazeera’s Arabic television channel, was hit by an Israeli live bullet on Wednesday morning, according to Al Jazeera and witnesses who were on the spot.
