The Head of the Libyan Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sirraj and the Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar have discussed military cooperation in a meeting in Tripoli.

The Turkish Defense Minister and Al-Sirraj reviewed Monday a possible Turkish role in building Libya's military and defense abilities by joint training and activation of Turkish-Libyan agreements in that regard.

Akar was on a work visit to Libya's capital with a high ranking delegation that included the Turkish Chief of General Staff Yaşar Güler and the President's envoy Emrullah İşler, besides others.

The two parties also talked about mutual relations and the fight against terrorism as well as mechanism needed to open coordination and cooperation between Libyan and Turkish defense ministries.

According to Al-Sirraj's media office, the officials also discussed the unification of the Libyan military institution.

"The unity of the military institution is dependent on having a united political vision and stance and on the success of the political process." Al-Sirraj remarked.
