The Chadian government has announced the repatriation of 157 Chadians who were deported from detention centres in Libya.

The return was facilitated via a special coordinated operation with the Libyan authorities, the International Organization for Migration, and the Chadian Embassy in Tripoli to issue travel documents and ensure their safe return to Chad.

The step, deemed crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of Chadians, was attributed to the close cooperation between the Libyan and Chadian authorities and the International Organization for Migration, as stated by Libya's Foreign Ministry.

The ministry further affirmed that flights for the return of the remaining Chadians detained in Libya will continue in the following weeks, highlighting the commitment to release all Chadian citizens and bring them back to their homeland.

The initiative follows the visit of the Chadian president to Tripoli, resulting in the signing of bilateral agreements focusing on the welfare of Chadians residing in Libya.
