The Libyan Presidential Council hailed Thursday the efforts exerted by Algeria to help Libya achieve a settlement that leads to a nationwide stability.

The Deputy Head of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, met with Algeria's ambassador to Tripoli, Sulaiman Shanin, as Al-Lafi applauded Algeria's support for the political solutions in Libya over the last years without intervening in the country’s sovereignty.

The Algerian ambassador said Libya’s stability and security entails those of Algeria, who continues to support settlement as it communicates with all parties inside and outside Libya.

Meanwhile, the Algerian President, Abdelmajid Tebboune, said in a talks with US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, on Wednesday in Algeria that Libya can be rebuilt on democracy but it needs elections with a political will, reiterating rejection to the presence of mercenaries near his country's borders.

Tebboune criticized those whom he called “parties clinging to power after they led efforts to allow Libyans to express their opinion”, but now after two years, Libyans are still striving to hold elections.
