The Indonesian Embassy in Tripoli hosted an Indonesia–Libya Friendly Dinner on November 28, 2024, under the theme “New Government of Indonesia and Progress & Prospects of Indonesia–Libya Economic Cooperation.” The event was attended by Libyan government representatives, members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and business leaders.
The Charge d’Affaires a.i. of the Indonesian Embassy, Dede Achmad Rifai, introduced Indonesia’s new government, led by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming, inaugurated on October 20, 2024. The cabinet includes 48 Ministers, with Sugiono serving as Minister for Foreign Affairs, supported by Vice Ministers Anis Matta, Armanata Natsir, and Havaz Ogroseno.
Rifai highlighted economic progress between the two nations, including increased participation by Indonesian companies in the Tripoli International Fair and Libyan businesses at the Indonesian Trade Expo.
He also announced ongoing discussions for an agreement and three MoUs covering economic, trade, higher education, health, and energy cooperation, expected to be finalized soon.
The event also emphasized growing collaboration in industries such as aviation, food and beverage, automotive spare parts, agriculture, and furniture. The Indonesian Embassy will visit companies in Jakarta and nearby cities in February 2025 to encourage participation in the Tripoli International Fair in April 2025. Libyan businesses were invited to join this initiative.
The gathering is expected to pave the way for a brighter and more prosperous economic partnership between the two nations.
